Radio Communication
VHF Handheld Radio
Longer reach across open areas such as plantations, mine sites, and ports.
About This Hardware
VHF performs best across open ground with few obstructions. On mine sites, plantations, and at ports, a VHF unit reaches several times further than UHF at the same output power. It falls away quickly once it has to pass through multi-storey concrete.

Worth Knowing
Where an operating area mixes multi-storey buildings with open ground, pairing VHF with a repeater is usually cheaper than adding more units.
